About Us

Our Story

"Every scent is an archive. A record of somewhere you have been, someone you have loved, a version of yourself you thought you'd lost."

Fyre Fragrances was founded in 2021 by Efua Mensah-Ayittey, a trained perfumer who spent a decade working in Grasse, France before returning to Accra with a singular ambition: to create a fragrance house rooted in West African identity.

The name Fyre — from the Akan word for light — reflects our approach. We don't overwhelm. We illuminate. Each fragrance begins not in a lab but in a conversation, a landscape, a long-held memory.

We source vetiver from the Volta Region, shea from the Northern Region, and frangipani from our own garden in East Legon. These are blended with internationally sourced naturals — Bulgarian rose, French iris, Indonesian oud — to create compositions that feel both global and deeply Ghanaian.

Sustainability is not a marketing word to us. Our bottles are refillable. Our packaging is recycled kraft. We pay our growers above fair-trade rates. And we limit each collection to avoid excess — a fragrance house should never be in a hurry.
